Who we are
HARBOR TREE is a website design and business automation studio based in Essex, Maryland. In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to HARBOR TREE. "You" means anyone who visits our website at harbor-tree.vercel.app or contacts us through it.
What we collect
We only collect information you give us directly. That falls into two buckets:
Information you submit
When you fill out the contact form or email us, we receive whatever you choose to share. Typically that's:
- Your full name
- Your business name
- Your email address
- Your phone number (optional)
- Your current website (optional)
- The service, budget range, and project details you describe
- How you heard about us (optional)
Basic technical information
Like nearly every website on the internet, our hosting provider records standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps — for security and reliability. We do not currently run third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or behavioral profiling cookies on this site.
How we use it
We use the information you submit only to:
- Respond to your inquiry
- Schedule and conduct a discovery call
- Prepare a written proposal if there's a project fit
- Communicate with you about active or prospective work
We do not sell your information. We do not rent it. We do not add you to a marketing list, newsletter, or drip campaign without your explicit, opt-in consent.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the small number of service providers we use to actually run the studio:
- Formspree — processes contact form submissions and forwards them to our inbox.
- Email provider — delivers and stores email correspondence with you.
- Hosting provider — serves the website and keeps standard server logs.
These providers process information on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments. We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.
The only other circumstance we'd disclose information is if we were legally required to — for example, in response to a valid subpoena or court order.
How long we keep it
Inquiries that don't turn into projects are kept in our inbox for as long as is reasonable in case you reach back out, then deleted. Records related to active or completed client projects — proposals, invoices, contracts — are retained as long as needed to operate the business and meet tax and legal obligations, typically up to seven years.
You can ask us to delete your inquiry at any time. See "Your rights" below.
Cookies
This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. The site uses Google Fonts, which loads font files from Google's servers; this exposes your IP address to Google as a normal part of how web fonts work, but no tracking cookie is set by us. If we add analytics or tracking in the future, this policy will be updated and prominent notice given on the site.
Security
We take reasonable, industry-standard steps to protect the information you share with us — encrypted transport (HTTPS), access-controlled inboxes, and reputable service providers. No system on the internet is perfectly secure, but we treat your information with the same care we'd want for our own.
Your rights
You can email us at hello@theharbortree.com at any time to:
- Ask what information we have about you
- Correct anything that's inaccurate
- Ask us to delete your inquiry or correspondence
- Opt out of any future communication
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (European Economic Area, UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California). We honor those rights regardless of where you're writing from.
Children
This website and our services are intended for business owners and adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in any meaningful way, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, note the change on the site. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
